General information

The following list represents the first raw data from the Town List Extraction Project.
In time, it will get more accurate, and more Kreise will be added.

Each entry is composed of four parts (separated by commas):

  • Name of the village
  • Name of the Kreis ('county')
  • Map coordinates (first digits are the map number, second are coordinates)
    Each map is copied on two pages, left and right and we have drawn a grid on them.
    The grid coordinates start at the lower left corner.
    From bottom to top, they are labeled "A" through "E".
    From left to right, they are labeled "1" through "3" (left side copy) and "4" through "6" (right side copy).
  • Type of village (according to it's listing in Meyers gazetter, circa 1910)

    x = not found in Meyers (still being researched, may be mispelled or name changed)

    St = Stadt (city)
    Gut = estate
    Rg = Rittersgut (noble's estate)
    Dom = Doma"ne (gov't estate)
    Vw = Vorwerk (outlying farm)
    LGem = Landgemeine (rural community)
    Kol = Kolony (colony)
    Ansdl = Ansiedlung (settlement)
    Ab= Abbau (surface mine)
    F = Forsthaus (forestor's dwelling)
    Etabl = ? (?)
    Fab = Fabrik (factory)
